The initial brief called for a series of plaques acknowledging the generosity of donors that made a remodel of the theater possible. During the discovery site visit, I noticed crews demolishing the old stage, tearing out the boards on which decades of productions had come to life. I asked the client to pull those planks out of the dumpster. Those very boards, still pockmarked and layered in the paint of the countless stories told, became the backdrop for a celebration of the people and history of the venerable theater.
